Labor Tempelhof is a nationwide pilot project that was initiated in 2020 after first talks between Cradle to Cradle NGO, Loft Concerts and the management of Die \u00c4rzte. Producing a series of concerts that were \u2018more than sustainable\u2019 and the positive developments that were achieved from 2022 to 2024 were made possible by: the timely and financial investment of all people involved, the collaboration in a project team that combined their knowledge of precise event planning and Cradle to Cradle, and, last but not least, the will and support of Die \u00c4rzte and Die Toten Hosen in particular. This constellation makes the project incomparable with other major events.<\/p>

From 2022 to 2024, central processes were significantly standardised thanks to the experience gained during the pilot years. The pre-production processes became more efficient as established infrastructures – for example in the areas of sanitation, electricity and hydraulic engineering – could be utilised. Collaboration with service providers ran more smoothly and saved considerable time and energy.<\/p>

The results from both years show that many products and processes are already in place to realise events in the best possible climate and resource-positive way. The project also made clear where the scaling of these existing solutions often still fails – and that there is great need for political action to make the quality standards, as tested and established in the project, the standard in the event industry.<\/p>

It is also part of the truth that the concert and event industry is still largely reserved and not very consistent in its efforts towards sustainable business practices, which in most cases is due to the fact that \u2018sustainable\u2019 solutions are often still associated with investments\/additional costs.<\/p>

The project has shown us over its entire duration that it is worth hanging in there if you really want to make a difference. One example of this is the compostable french fries forks from 100% natural components: from a few prototypes in 2022 to 1,500 units for the 2024 concerts to industrial production, which the company traceless is currently setting up in Hamburg.<\/p>

Political doors have opened noticeably faster since 2022 with a reference to Labor Tempelhof. There is now also a national circular economy strategy, as we called for in the report on the 2022 concerts.<\/p>

When researching cases in 2024, we noticed that the number of C2C solutions available on the market has increased since 2022. And we have learnt from feedback within the industry, from the economy in general and also from politicians that it is relevant to choose Cradle to Cradle as an approach for sustainable concerts or cultural events in order to ensure a truly holistic view and not just achieve punctual improvements.<\/p>

The transformation of our society towards ecological, economic and social benefits for all cannot succeed without culture. Every additional cultural event in this direction helps to overcome barriers.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

This is precisely why role models and inspiration are so important. Pilot projects like Labor Tempelhof make the transformation to a circular and sustainable society visible and, above all, tangible. They demonstrate what is already possible today and provide positive examples. This encourages many more people to actively shape, follow and participate than pure theory.<\/p>

The guide book is a joint project of the four initiating partners Cradle to Cradle NGO<\/a>, KKT GmbH \u2013 Kikis kleiner Tourneeservice<\/a>, Loft Concerts GmbH<\/a>, Side by Side Eventsupport GmbH<\/a> and the band Die \u00c4rzte.
